Safety isn’t just a priority for Morgan Engineering, based in Alliance, Ohio—it’s a way of life. To foster workplace safety and community involvement, Morgan Engineering partnered with Alliance City Schools for the fifth annual Safety Calendar Contest, featuring colorful student artwork promoting safety at school, home, and work.

For Morgan Engineering’s Safety Calendar Contest, elementary-aged students were invited to draw colorful images that feature a message of safety that applies to school, home, or Morgan’s workplace. Twelve of the submissions were selected to appear in the calendar.

This year marked the first time Alliance Intermediate School joined the contest. “Designing a poster allows our 4th and 5th graders to think critically about safety in a way they can easily understand and remember,” says Erica Jackson, Assistant Principal at Alliance Intermediate School, “it’s a fun, hands-on way for them to learn important safety concepts and it gives them a sense of ownership and pride in helping to promote a safer community.”

Students from Alliance Early Learning School and Alliance Elementary School also participated in this year’s contest, continuing a tradition of promoting safety awareness through creativity.

The winning students from all three schools include:

Winning students received their artwork professionally framed and a $25 gift card. Morgan Engineering also donated $1,000 to each school for safety- and STEM-related resources, reinforcing its commitment to education and safety. All students and staff at each school will also receive a copy of the Morgan 2025 Safety Calendar.

“Being safe is one of our four school-wide expectations. It is important to teach students what being safe looks like in all areas of our school building,” continues Jackson, “it also teaches good habits to make smart decisions even outside of school. Creating a culture of safety helps foster trust between students, staff, and the community.” Morgan Engineering takes pride in promoting a culture of safety that extends beyond workplace safety and positively impacts the community. “Students practice safety daily by following school rules, practicing emergency drills, digital safe practices, and reporting to adults any unsafe behaviors or situations.”

“Participating in Morgan’s contest allowed our students to feel part of something larger, knowing that their efforts in promoting safety resonate beyond the walls of Alliance Intermediate,” stated Jackson. “It’s inspiring for them to know that their creative expressions and understanding of safety will be shared with and appreciated by other students, teachers, and community members.”
